When sending appraisals, please send to Jon or Zac, not both.
Gary and Dale Guyette's interest in decoy collecting and marketing began in 1974 when they started buying decoys on their antique buying trips from Maine to the Canadian Maritime Provinces.
In 1984, they started a decoy auction business with Fairfield, Maine auctioneer Jim Julia. After 7 successful years, they bought out Jim and sold part of the business to collector Frank Schmidt, in 1992. The business thrived, growing to over $200,000,000 in total sales with auctions in three locations throughout the US.
In 2011, Frank Schmidt sold his share of the company to Jon Deeter to create Guyette & Deeter, Inc.. Surpassing the $200,000,000 mark in total sales in 2020, and hosting three annual auctions, Gary and Jon travel throughout the country to decoy shows, providing appraisals and scouting out collections for upcoming auctions.
Today, Guyette and Deeter, Inc. has its base of operations in St. Michaels, Maryland. We also operate a successful weekly online auction year round at www.decoysforsale.com.
