Guyette & Deeter's Third Annual February Auction Their Largest and Most Successful in Charleston to Date

Charleston, South Carolina - Guyette & Deeter held its third annual decoy auction in conjunction with the Southeastern Wildlife Expo in Charleston, South Carolina on February 14, 2015. This sale was Guyette & Deeter's largest and most successful sale in Charleston, was unreserved, and only three items passed. This is Guyette & Deeter’s smallest auction of the year, with just 282 lots. The sale total was roughly mid-estimate, at $512,042. There was an enthusiastic audience, with over 130 people in attendance. Phone and absentee bidding were strong with 79 phone and 41 absentee bidders. Online bidding continues to grow, with 869 bidders registered, and 81 lots selling to that group. Gary Guyette and Jon Deeter attribute the success to extensive promotion, guaranteed condition reports, and a buyer's premium that is still 15%. The catalog for this sale is still available for $20.

Highlights for the sale include a bluebill by Ned Burgess selling for $21,850, a pair of decorative bluewing teal by the Ward Brothers selling for $18,400, and a white wing scoter by Jim Schmiedlin selling for $11,500 - all within or over estimate.

Guyette & Deeter's next sale will be held on April 23 & 24 in St. Charles, Illinois. The consignment deadline for this sale is March 6, or until full.
