St. Michaels, Maryland – As has become tradition in mid September, the Sporting Arms collecting fraternity turns its eyes towards the Guyette and Deeter Auctions Fall Fine Sporting Arms Auction which concluded Friday and posted most impressive results!

Lot 1 of the sale was a coveted and rare Parker Reproductions A-1 Special Grade. The gun was engraved by the late celebrated engraver Geoffroy Gournet and the gun carried a pre-sale high estimate of $45,000 and after a spirited bidding battle landed at $51,000, which makes a new high watermark for a Parker Reproduction of any configuration at auction. Other American Doubles were overall quite strong including a Parker BHE Grade 12ga which made $48,000, a spectacular Parker DHE 20ga carried a presale estimate of $15-$25,000 and took off at the start of bidding finally landing at $66,000! Other American Doubles did quite well include a A.H. Fox DE Special 12ga which landed above its high estimate at $33,000! Ithaca Guns did well with a beautiful and rare Ithaca Grade 5E 16ga which zoomed to $12,600 against a presale estimate of $35-$5500! Other strong American Sporting Arms included a Remington Model 11 F Grade which made $13,800 against a $5500 high estimate! Finally, a beautiful pair of Winchester Model 21 12ga Grand American Grade Guns made $54,000 against a $45,000 high estimate.

Guyette and Deeter has become known as well for offering incredible items from other important makers and Browning Arms are no exception. Lot 144 was a stunning and high art Browning Superposed 410bore which made $27,000. Another great Superposed in the auction was a Browning Diana 28ga which bested its high estimate and hammered at $27,000 as well.

Best quality and hand made English and Italian sporting arms are always a mainstay with G&D and this sale had some incredible ones on offer. The offering was lead by a magnificent pair of Holland and Holland 20bore game guns that made $57,000. A Boss & Co. 20ga (1 of 3 offered in the sale) sold at $54,000. A stunning James Purdey 20ga Over/Under made $60,000 and another James Purdey built 12bore Pigeon Hammergun sold above high estimate earning $16,800. One of the most exciting lots in the auction was lot 197, a Holloway and Naughton blasted to $48,000! The best quality Italian sporting arms were well represented and lead by an incredible 28ga P. Beretta "SO10" model which made $84,000 and a F.lli Piotti 410 bore which bested its high estimate of $50,000 finally hammering down at $66,000!

Other objects of interest included some fantastic antiquities included in the sale. G&D work closely with respected author Patrick Hornberger who lined up a wonderful offering with several objects from the legendary Kindig Collection. A superb German Wheelock from the Kindig Collection made $9,000, and an exquisite gold inlaid and carved "Canon Tordu" double barrel flintlock shotgun by Moser landed mid estimate at $13,200.

Fine watches have become a familiarly site with G&D Fine Sporting Arms sales and this sale offered two good Rolex watches which made $23,400 for the pair and a Patek Philippe "Calatrava" model which bested its estimate and made $7800.
